After a court battle that lasted over a decade, Anna Nicole Smith’s daughter may actually inherit around $49 million from the J. Howard Marshall estate due to sanctions imposed on the Marshall estate’s lawyers.

Forbes reported Thursday that a California federal judge ordered J. Pierce Marshall’s estate to pay sanctions for using tactics during the late Pierce Marshall’s battle against his stepmother, the late Playboy model. The ruling finally puts an end to the court battle that has been raging practically since Marshall died in 1995, just a year after marrying Smith at age 89. Pierce Marshall died in 2006.

According to E! News, Judge David O. Carter sanctioned Pierce Marshall based on delaying tactics his lawyers used throughout the case to deny Smith’s attorneys access to all the evidence.

Carter didn’t give the exact amount for the sanctions, but in March 2012, he put the cost at $49 million. The amount will be set during an Aug. 13 court hearing.

Smith married Marshall in 1994 and he died 13 months later. Smith, a former Playboy star, died in 2007.

Dannielynn’s father is Larry Birkhead and in 2012, she began modeling for Guess. She is 6-years-old.
