The first full trailer for Jobs, the biopic starring Two and a Half Men actor Ashton Kutcher as Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, hit the web on Friday afternoon.
Jobs tells the story of the late tech innovator’s life, starting from his decision to drop out of college to co-found the company that would become Apple to the introduction of the iPhone. Jobs died in October 2011 at age 55 after a battle with cancer.
Open Road Films is releasing the movie on Aug. 16. The distributor, which picked up the film quickly before it premiered at Sundance in January, had originally hoped to release it in April but decided to put the film out in the summer.
Joshua Michael Stern directed and Matthew Whiteley. Josh Gad plays Jobs’ Apple partner, Steve Wozniak.
Back in January, Kutcher told the Telegraph that it was “terrifying” to play Jobs.
“It's really scary when everyone has a right to be like a legitimate critic,” he said at the time. “Because he was very public. There are people here who probably know him way better than I do, who shook his hand, knew him, hung out with him. So that's terrifying. Especially when you're playing somebody that people really admired.”
This isn’t the only film on the life of Jobs in the works. Aaron Sorkin was hired by Sony to write a film adaptation of Walter Isaacson’s biography Steve Jobs.
