Attila will release their fifth album, “About That Life” off of Artery Recordings Tuesday June 25.
The five-member metal band from Atlanta, GA, is currently streaming the album on YouTube to hold fans over until the album is officially released.
The party-crazed band brings short rap verses into a bed of hard-hitting tracks and guitar breakdowns. The rap breaks are unexpected but fitting with Attila’s attitude.
Attila is a working contradiction. They combine things, like rap and rock, which should not go together and make them work.
“About That Life” brings fans to the happy place of a packed concert venue. The fast paced tracks are perfect for this setting.
The first track on the album, “Middle Fingers Up,” is the perfect example. It features Attila’s love to party but also the angry, hard moments expected from a metal band.
The album overall progresses nicely. However, it hits a bump in the road on the third track “Rageaholics.”
“Rageaholics” in summary is the band boasting about how much they get to party in their profession. It is disappointment.
The lyrics are not emotional enough for the genre. Luckily, the head-banging guitar solo saves the song.
At track five, the band threw in a phone call interlude, “Leave a Message….” It proves that Attila could care less about what other people think. They just want to play music and have fun.
Attila has put golden tickets in a select number of physical copies of the album. Fans who purchase the albums with a golden ticket get to party with the band themselves.
Catch them on the Monster Stage at the Vans Warped Tour this summer.
