The members of the Boy Meets World cast gathered in Austin, Texas this weekend for the ATX Television Festival. Star Ben Savage spoke about Girl Meets World, a planned spin-off that is hoping to get a series order from Disney.

“We're not doing a Boy Meets World reunion,” Savage told TV Guide. “It's a new show that will hopefully speak to a new generation, and I think people will get that. We're not going to mess with their memories; we're doing an entirely new thing that will hopefully help a new generation grow.”

Girl Meets World has been in development since last fall and will star Rowan Blanchard as the daughter of Cory (Savage) and Topanga (Danielle Fishel).

Rider Strong hasn’t signed on for the spin-off yet, but he’s happy to see the amazing response to the project. “I don't think anyone from the show expected the response to be so positive, so I'm excited, but I'm going to wait and see. If it's a good situation, I feel like I owe it to the fans,” he told TV Guide.com.

According to Perez Hilton, the festival brought together most of the Boy Meets World cast, although Danielle Fishel couldn’t make it. Aside from Savage and Stong, Matthew Lawrence, Trina McGee-Davis, Maitland Ward Baxter, Lily Nicksay and Besty Randle also attended. Baxter posted several photos on her Instagram page, notes The Daily News.

If Girl Meets World gets picked up, it will air on The Disney Channel in the fall.
