A bible with an inscription written by Nobel Prize winner Albert Einstein has gone for $68,500 at auction in New York City on Tuesday over 80 years after it was written.
Einstein and his wife wrote in the bible in the year 1932 and they gave it to their American friend Harriett Hamilton. The inscription is written in German.

The auction house that sold it said the inscription stated that the Bible “is a great source of wisdom and consolation and should be read frequently,” Fox News reports.

The presale estimate of the bible was between $1,500 and $2,500 so the price they received has been a surprise. The final price being reported also includes the commission that the auction house, Bonham’s received.

Washington Times reports it hasn’t been disclosed who the buyer of the bible is.

Einstein passed away in 1955. He’s best known for creating the theory of relativity and he won the coveted Nobel Prize in physics.
