A California husband is in big trouble with his wife. He accidentally sold her $23,000 diamond wedding ring at a garage sale for $10.

Before Racquel Cloutier of Laguna Niguel, California was set to give birth to her fifth child, she decided to hide her ring in a cheap wooden jewelry box to keep it safe while she was at the hospital, reports KABC. Unfortunately, she never got around to telling her husband, Eric Cloutier, who decided to sell the box at a community garage sale on Saturday, June 1, a day after she gave birth. Someone bought the box for $10, not knowing that there was a really expensive ring inside.

According to The Huffington Post, Cloutier said that she put the ring under a cushion in the box, so the person might still not know that he or she has the ring. She’s asking anyone with information email her at rachelcloutier@gmail.com.

On Wednesday, ABC News reported that the ring’s location is still a mystery.

Cloutier returned home on June 5. “I go into my husband’s closet, can’t find the box, and then he tells me he sold it. I said, ‘You sold it? What do you mean you sold it?’ I immediately started crying,” Cloutier told ABC News. “I’m very, very, very upset...I’m trying to remain optimistic but I don’t know anymore. There’s a small chance whoever bought the box doesn’t know the ring is in there.”

Cloutier says her husband “feels really terrible.” She added that she would not keep the ring if she was the person who bought the box.

“If you’re honest, you’re honest. Clearly, the ring was in the box by accident.”
