At the 2013 CMT awards, previous American Idol winner Carrie Underwood came out as the top dog, winning Video of the Year, making this the 10th belt buckle she has won.
The country music performer won four awards alone for her music video for her hit “Blown Away.” Underwood then went on to perform a tribute to the victims of the Oklahoma tornadoes earlier this month. Underwood’s week is just getting started, though. Next on her to-do list is to celebrate the opening of the Country Music Hall of Fame and also being the closing act for the Country Music Association Festival this Sunday according to Fox News.
Miranda Lambert also took home top awards. Lambert won Performance of the Year for her song “Over You” which was co-written by her husband and fellow country music performer Blake Shelton. Lambert also won Female Video of the Year for her sassy single titled “Mama’s Broken Heart.” Shelton also won an award for Male Video of the Year, keeping up the two’s “power couple” reputation according to Rolling Stone.
Another multiple-award winner was Florida Georgia Line, who won Duo of the Year and Breakthrough Video of the Year due to their single “Cruise.” Taylor Swift, on the other hand, left with no winnings, but did perform a feisty number with her title track “Red.”
