Eric Clapton cancelled two concerts this week in Austria and Germany due to back problems.

The two shows that have been canceled are on June 11 in Vienna and June 12 in Stuttgart. No other shows have been canceled due to Clapton’s back injury a statement said on Clapton’s website.

A source told Rolling Stone Clapton has “a very Severe backache” and he has had physiotherapy to ease the pain of evening performances. Clapton has not canceled shows in the past due to his back problems.

In a follow-up statement on Clapton’s site he said he is with specialists who are looking for a treatment then apologizes for the inconveniences canceling the shows have caused and “all tickets can be returned to the Box Offices for refund.”

Clapton is scheduled to play at the Koenig-Pilsener Arena in Oberhausen, Germany on June 14 and will end on June 19 at the O2 Arena in Prague.

Clapton who has been a musician for nearly 50 years told Rolling Stone he is going to stop touring when he hits 70 years old.

“The bit on stage, that’s easy . . . But for me, the struggle is the travel . . . When I’m 70, I’ll stop. I won’t stop playing or doing one-offs, but I’ll stop touring, I think,” he said.
