After fighting a hotel in flames, four firefighters in Houston have died.
According to San Francisco Chronicle, besides the four deaths, five firefighters were injured. Two firefighters are critically injured.
CNN reported that the deaths were caused by the collapse of hotel wall. Mayor Annise Parker told CNN: "Today is going to go down ... as the worst day in the history of the Houston Fire Department."
The five-alarm fire caused 150 firefighters to respond as a Southwest Inn went up in flames.
Fire Chief Terry Garrison told CNN that they firefighters did not speculate as much fire as they originally believed.
The structure collapsed ... and our members who were trying to save lives were trapped,” he said.
Dallas News reported that the firefighters were in the process of saving lives, and no one else has died. The reason for the fire has not been released.
In the history of the department, the deaths were the worst reported.
Matthew Renaud, Robert Bebee, Robert Garner and Anne Sullivan were the firefighters who lost their lives in the fire.
