Iconic fashion designer, Karl Lagerfeld, is at it again, making disparaging comments about both Adele and Pippa Middelton’s physical appearances.
In February 2009, Metro asked Lagerfeld whether he preferred the music of Lana del Rey or Adele.
He responded, “The thing at the moment is Adele. She is a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice.”
Just a few months later, Middleton was the victim of Lagerfeld’s brutal honesty after he compared her to her sister.
He said, “Kate Middleton has a nice silhouette and she is the right girl for that boy [Prince William]. On the other hand, her sister struggles. I don’t like the sister’s face. She should only show her back,” reported the Daily Mail.
Recently, Lagerfeld attempted to recant his fat-shaming comment about Adele in an interview on CNN's Fashion: Backstage Pass.
He insisted, “I never said that she was fat, I said that she was a little roundish. A little roundish is not fat.”
However, he went on to say, “But for such a beautiful girl, after that she lost eight kilo [17.6 pounds], so I think the message was not that bad.”
As for his previous comments about Middleton’s face, Lagerfeld was unapologetic.
“I think her sister looks better,” he said.
The eccentric 79-year-old fashion designer is nevertheless a legend in the fashion industry. Besides having his own fashion house, Lagerfeld has worked with Valentino, Fendi, Chloé, and H&M.
Currently, he is the creative director for Chanel.
