Kristen Stewart is poised to have a much quieter 2013 than 2012. She doesn’t have any films slated for release this year, meaning that she’ll have plenty of time to work on new projects for 2014. The actress signed on to do two different indie projects on Tuesday, including one with acclaimed French director Olivier Assayas.

First up is Camp X-Ray, a project that could take her to Guantanamo Bay if the production goes on location. According to Deadline, that film has Stewart as a small town girl who tries to escape her life there by joining the military. She’s hoping to go to the other side of the world and serve in Iraq, but she gets sent to Guantanamo instead. There, she begins a friendship with a man who’s been there for eight years. Gina Kwon and Sophia Lin are producing and David Gordon Green is an executive producer. Production starts later this summer. Peter Sattler wrote and will direct.

The second project will be helmed by Assayas, best known for the films Summer Hours and Carlos and is titled Sils Maria. According to The Wrap, Juliette Binoche and Chloe Grace Moretz are signed on as her co-stars.

Sils Maria finds Stewart as veteran actress Binoche’s assistant. Moretz plays a young actress who draws Binoche’s attention and she casts Moretz in a role she made famous years before.

That film will be made in English and will be distributed by IFC Films in the U.S.
