British group Little Mix broke the Spice Girls chart record this week.

Little Mix’s album DNA hit number four on the Billboard 200 chat making it the highest debut ever for a British female group’s first album passing Spice Girls’ Spice at number six in 1997 according to Billboard.

DNA sold over 50,000 copies in its first week of release and was led with the single “Wings,” which reached number 26 on the Pop Songs airplay chart and was covered on Glee. The album also has the highest start for any female group’s debut album since 2006 with Danity Kane’s self-titled started at number one.

Little Mix, who includes Jesy Nelson, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinncok, and Jade Thirlwall, won the 2011 British version of The X Factor. The group will make their U.S. television debut this Friday (June 7) on ABC’s Good Morning America.

“We’re just four normal girls just trying to follow our dream and others can relate to that,” Pinncok said to BBC News when talking about their sudden surge of popularity.
