Fans are going to have to wait a little bit longer for Mariah Carey’s new album, The Art of Letting Go.
On Monday Carey tweeted, “While making this album, I got so immersed in the creative process that I just don’ feel I would be doing it justice to release it on 7/23,” then added, “I’d rather not exclude meaningful songs. I want to give you this album as it’s meant to be heard. When I’m ready, you’ll be the first 2 know!”
There currently is no word on when the album will be released. Carey is still scheduled to perform at Sunday’s 2013 BET Awards. Other performers include Nicki Minaj, Justin Timberlake, R. Kelly, Miguel, and more. Carey will also perform with Usher at the Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular the New York Daily News reports.
Carey released “#Beautiful” featuring Miguel, which gave fans an idea of what to expect for her upcoming album. Miguel spoke with MTV about the reasoning behind the hashtag.
“The hashtag in the title of this song is particularly fitting because the word that comes before ‘beautiful’ when I sing the chorus is an expletive that I can’t say on air. But the hashtag is particularly fitting for that expletive, if you just kind of pay a little bit of attention,” he said.
