Mick Jagger had some strong words for President Obama during a performance in the nation’s capital Monday night.

Jagger and The Rolling Stones took the stage at the Verizon Center and put the commander in chief on blast for governmental surveillance programs, The New York Daily News reports.

“I don’t think President Obama is here tonight,” Jagger yelled into the microphone. “But I’m sure he’s listening in.”

Fans welcomed the comment with thunderous applause, quoting the 69-year-old on Twitter.

The rocker’s comment is in reference to recently leaked plans for the National Security Administration to track Internet and cellphone activity. Former CIA agent Edward Snowden leaked the controversial government plot. Since then, Snowden has been in Moscow hiding from United States authorities.

USA Today reports that though Jagger seemed perturbed, fans thoroughly enjoyed the performance. Tickets to the event ranged from $85 to $650, but according to concert-goer Charles Plyate, “It was worth twice what I paid. I hope they play again.”

Despite a difference in political opinion at the present, Jagger and President Obama joined each other in song when the legendary singer performed at the White House in 2012.
