A piece of Mick Jagger’s hair is going up for auction on July 3 through the British auction house Bonhams.
According to Fox News the lock of hair dates back to Jagger’s younger days in the 1960s and belongs to Chrissie Shrimpton, who the Rolling Stones star dated in the early 1960s during-and-after his time as a London School of Economics student.
Rolling Stone reports Bonham described the lock in a statement, “Unbeknown to her at the time, this lock was saved by her grandmother when Mick and Chrissie were staying at her parents’ farm. Apparently, on her grandmother’s death, the hair passed to Chrissie’s aunt and when she died, the hair was returned to Chrissie by a cousin taking care of personal effects.”
The lock is expected to bring in between 2,300 and 3,100. The price is estimated between the amount that Keith Richards’ and John Dillinger’s hair was sold for.
A lock of Ulysses S. Grant’s hair once sold for $5,975, while Abraham Lincoln’s hair sold for $38,837 and MSN Money reports a lock of Elvis Presley’s hair sold for $115,000 in 2002.
All proceeds from Jagger’s hair will go to the charity Changing Faces.
