Microsoft changed two important new policies regarding its new Xbox One console after receiving critical feedback from gamers.
The original policy required consoles to be connected to the internet once every 24 hours. Gamers were also not allowed to sell, trade, or share disk games.
Marc Whitten, the chief product officer, told
CNN,
“[o]ur online vision and the Xbox One architecture really power the complete new experience in how the Cloud changes everything and we're massively invested in this."
Gamers communicated frustration with the new policy requirements. Microsoft has since changed these policies. Consoles will not need an internet connection to play disk games. Gamers will be able to sell, trade, and share their disk games.
Don Mattrick, president of Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Business, said, “These changes will impact some of the scenarios we previously announced for Xbox One. The sharing of games will work as it does today, you will simply share the disc. Downloaded titles cannot be shared or resold,” in a blog post on Xbox Wire.
