Paula Morris filed a lawsuit filed in Alameda County Superior Court yesterday, alleging that her son’s two-can-a-day Monster Energy drink habit caused his fatal heart attack.

Alex Morris was just 19 years old when he had a heart attack on July 1, 2012. He later died at the hospital.

"[I]t is hard for all of Alex's family and friends to relive the terrible moments of his death, but we cannot be silent while more seemingly-healthy young adults like Alex are putting their lives at risk, and we do not want any other parents to experience the devastation of losing their child,” Paula Morris told Globe Newswire.

This is not the only lawsuit that Monster Energy faces.
Anais Fournier’s family is also suing Monster Energy. Their lawsuit alleges that the 14-year-old Maryland teenager died after she drank two large cans of the beverage.

“Our allegations in the lawsuits are the same and that’s the peoples deaths were caused by these energy drinks and more specifically the defendants failure to warn about the dangers,” Alexander Wheeler, the attorney representing both families, told local CBS affiliate KPIX.
