The ever talented Neil Patrick Harris will add the leading role in Broadway’s Hedwig and the Angry Inch to his ever expanding resume.

The How I Met Your Mother actor will take on the role of an East German transsexual role in the John Cameron Mitchell created book turned Broadway hit, New York Daily News reports.

This will not mark Harris’ first time on the stage. The Tony Awards emcee previously took on roles in Broadways Proof, Cabaret and Assassins. The actor raved about the opportunity to take on the role in a statement which followed the announcement. “I am simultaneously ecstatic and terrified to be stepping into Hedwig’s heels,” Harris said. “It is truly a once-in-a-lifetime role and I can’t wait to begin the journey.”

In the fall, Harris will take on his final role as Barney Stinson, when the hit CBS series HIMYM enters its ninth and final season. The actor also reprises his role as Patrick Wilson in the Smurfs 2, in theaters July 31.
