Paul McCartney has agreed to do a one-hour music special with Stephen Colbert on Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report. The special episode will air on Wednesday, June 12 at 11:30 p.m.

This is only the second time McCartney has appeared on Colbert’s show. He last visited in January 2009 for a Better Know A Beatle segment. The former Beatle will be promoting the new release of the 1976 live album Wings Over America and his current Out There tour. McCartney’s 1980 concert film Rockshow is also being released on home video later this month and was just released in theaters for one night.

“I think this McCartney kid’s got something special and I’m gonna put him on the map!” Colbert said in today’s announcement.

Music has been a major part of Colbert’s show and he has often had musicians appear on the show to perform and talk about their work. The McCartney special is his second hour-long music special, following his September 2011 special with Radiohead.

After the show airs, it will be repeated during the following day on Comedy Central and on ColbertNation.com. McCartney will perform an extra song that will only be available online.
