Casino chain Caesars announced that it will not renew Paula Deen’s buffet-style restaurant contracts at its four locations.
"While we appreciate Paula's sincere apologies for statements she made in her past that she recently disclosed during a deposition given in response to a lawsuit, after thoughtful consideration of their impact, we have mutually decided that it is in the best interests of both parties to part ways at this time," company spokesman Jan Jones Blackhurst told ET online .
Wal-Mart issued a similar statement.
“We are ending our relationship with Paula Deen Enterprises and we will not place new orders beyond those already committed, “a Wal-Mart spokesman told The Hollywood Reporter.
Deen appears to be in damage control mode as she appeared on the Today show for an interview with Matt Lauer. She was supposed to do an interview last week, but did not appear on the show.
In the short term, these cancellations could cost Deen millions of dollars. However, the Food Network provided Deen a platform to sell her other products, such as cookbooks and cooking tools. Without this exposure, sales could sink even further.
