The new Bond movie has signed Penelope Cruz on as the new love interest for 007.

The Spanish actress will be named the oldest Bond girl, as she will turn 40 next April. Honor Blackman held the title when she portrayed Pussy Galore in Goldfinger when she was 39.

“The producers have tried to get Penelope before, but she has never been available because of other commitments. The discussions have been going on for some time and they are working out the contract details now,” said a source close to movie productions.

Production for this movie is estimated to be £100 million, which is lower than the production for Skyfall and Quantum of Solance.

Sam Mendes, who directed the last Bond movie Skyfall, will direct the upcoming James Bond film. The Daily Mail states Mendes is negotiating to direct the next two Bond movies before Daniel Craig reaches his end as 007.

Cruz is expecting her second child with husband since 2010, Javier Bardem. Bardem played the villain, Silva, in Skyfall.

According to Yahoo, the 24th installment of the action spy will not hit theatres until 2016.
