Music producer Pharrell, whose latest project has been work on Miley Cyrus’ new album, aids the pop princess in inciting suspense for her music by dishing on her stylistic transformation and how it has influenced her most recent work.

Pharrell raved about Cyrus MTV News , saying he always enjoys working with “Southern people.”

“I love Miley — she's really honestly at the core a good person,” Pharrell said, before explaining his love of Southern charm, “Southern people just have this thing where...sort of a Southern value kicks in and along with that value is also that Southern appreciation."

Cyrus and Pharrell have been working for over a year now on her new album. The songs are rumored to feature performances from hip-hop superstars such as Wiz Khalifa, but Pharrell assures fans that the music won’t be too great a departure from Cyrus’ pop roots.

"It's just gonna sound like her and her influences, but it's not that hip-hop heavy," Pharrell explains of the album as a whole. “That's not what she does, that's not where she comes from."

Fans and critics have speculated how Cyrus’ recent rebellious antics and fashion transformation will influence her new sound. The 20-year-old Disney alum shocked the social media universe last year when she chopped off her auburn locks and went platinum blonde. Cyrus has since stirred up audiences with her provocative dress and young (and rocky) engagement to Australian actor Liam Hemsworth.

"She's a fiery Sagittarius,” Pharrell explains. “She can't be put into a box.”

Though Cyrus has made quite the physical transformation in the last year, it seems her musical style is here to stay, and through all her growth and maturity, the singer is determined to keep her fans involved.

Chron reports that Cyrus has decided to include fans in her upcoming music video.

“I want you to be a part of my FanMade music video!” The star explained on her Facebook page. “Send me your best twerk videos to my new song and I will put together a video of all my favorites!”
