Many know the name Brett Goodkin as the police officer who assisted in the arrest of members of the famous Bling Ring back in 2009. But now, with the release of Sophia Coppola’s The Bling Ring, more people will recognize him as the police officer who handcuffs Emma Watson’s character in the movie.
According to Perez Hilton, Goodkin was a technical advisor on the set of The Bling Ring, recounting details of the arrest of the real-life Bling Ring’s arrests when Coppola asked him to be a part of the film. Goodkin said yes, earning him $12,500 for the small role.
The issue behind his 15 minutes of fame is that Goodkin lied to his boss about his role in the movie which was being shot while trials for some of the real-life Bling Ring members were occurring.
LA Times states that Goodkin is facing three counts; compromising the prosecution’s case, not obtaining the proper work permit and making a false statement to his head deputy.
