A shooting at the Santa Monica College and nearby a neighborhood has resulted in 7 deaths and 5 wounded on June 7th.

The shooting began a few blocks away from the college when a man, dressed in all black, drove by a house and began shooting. According to the Associated Press, two men were found dead inside.

Before trying to enter the campus, another woman was wounded after the gunman tried to carjack her car. She has reported to have only minor injuries.

According to local ABC news KABC, shots were fired randomly on the streets from a vehicle. Three people were killed between two different intersections.

“Those calls that came in reported this shooter was armed with multiple weapons and was firing shots at vehicles and at a bus,” said Sgt. Denise Joslin.

The gunman began to exchange fire with police in the campus library. 3 victims on campus were reported to the UCLA Medical Center hospital, where one woman has died.

Santa Monica Police Department Chief Jacqueline Seabrooks confirmed police killed the gunman. Another suspect was taken in as person of interest.

Schools nearby, including the Santa Monica College were on lockdown until 3 p.m.
