A sixth-grade teacher in France has been suspended after he had the worst idea possible - showing Saw to 11-year-olds.
Jean-Baptiste Clément, a math teacher in Colombes reportedly screened the hit 2004 horror film that is often called “torture porn” for the students, reports radio network Europe 1. He reportedly told the children before showing the movie, “This will be your first horror film.”
According to Gawker, one of the students looked distraught when he came home and his father called up the school to tell them what his son had seen.
The school held a disciplinary meeting on Tuesday and decided to suspend Clément for a day while it investigates the incident.
The Hollywood Reporter notes that a similar incident happened in the U.S. recently, when a Georgia teacher showed The Campaign and Ted - two R-rated comedies - in his class.
Saw was directed by James Wan, the director hired for Fast & Furious 7. The original Saw was followed by six sequels and finished with 2010’s Saw: The Final Chapter.
Wan did not have a comment for THR, but he would probably agree that the teacher made a really bad decision.
