TaQuita Thorns debuts her first album Rough & Fancy; Vol.1, which presents her as an emerging Rock and Soul Diva. Thorns is from Detroit, Michigan and has always been a natural performer from the early age of four.
Thorns would perform at family parties and at school. Thorns said, “While my four sisters and brother played outside, I preferred to stay indoors singing and performing in a mirror.” According to UptownMagazine.com.
Thorns has a charismatic aurora and fascinating voice. Her music is a mixture of upbeat pop songs, soulful R&B, house, disco and funk. Her musical inspirations are influenced iconic artists like Little Richard, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross and the Supremes, Etta James, James Brown, Jackson 5, The Temptations and Whitney Houston. About her music she told LaFamos, "I have no particular sound or style. It’s a never ending river of grooves and blues.”
Each of her musical influences are captured in the tracks. Thorns mirror the same charisma that Diana Ross and Whitney Houston had when they would grace the stage. The songs go from heartfelt R&B to catchy bubble gum pop to hits.
The first single on the album is “Forever” which shows the mixture of the two genres. The song sets the tempo and beat for the beginning of the album. There is a wide variety of songs about her life and love.
“Feel Right” is one of the upbeat pop dance single. Thorns is talking to her love interest with the lyrics, “I’m here to make you feel right/ I’m here to keep your head tight/ Don’t worry you’ll be alright/ I’ll be there for you, I’ll be there for you/Relax your body/ Tell me what’s on your mind.”
Thorns goal with her music and album is to bring a positive and cheerful spirit to her fans. “I hope my music puts people in a good mood and inspires them to get up and move!” TaQuita said. According to Up Town Magazine.
Thorns is dazzling with her fierce voice and flamboyant appearance, Rough & Fancy; Vol.1 shows that she is the next up and coming successful artist.
