This is the tagline for the latest and final installment for “the wolfpack” as they embark on their final adventure together. I am huge fan of The Hangover movies and was extremely excited when I heard that they were making a final movie in this series. I went into this movie thinking that I was going to be laughing the entire time, just as I was doing watching the previous films. I was laughing during this film, just not as often I was I thought I would be.
This film starts off a couple years after the events of The Hangover II. Leslie Chow has escaped prison while Alan causes a massive pileup which leads to the unfortunate passing of his father. It leads to a somber reunion for the wolfpack as they have an intervention for Alan and tell him that they want to take him to a rehab facility to get better. He agrees, only if Stu, Phil, and Doug will take him there personally. They are on the way to the facility when they are attacked and taken out into the middle of the desert where a drug dealer informs them that Chow stole 20 million dollars worth of gold from him, and that Alan is the only one in communication with him, that the “Wolfpack” are the best way to lead him to Chow. The drug dealer decides to hold Doug as collateral that they will locate Chow and the gold and bring them to him in three days.
This film, when compared to the other two previous films has much more of a serious tone and feel to the film. The other two films also had a similar plot; where as this final film has a completely different plot. They changed the pacing of this film; they traded crude, ill-timed jokes for a plot line that gave the film a different feel and rhythm to it, something that might surprise people when they go see this film. There is not the central focus on having a crazy night and having to piece together the night before and try to remember everything. I personally like the change of pace in this film. One of the main complaints about the second film was how it was exactly like the first film; the same can’t be said for this film. I believe that is a good thing. This film serves as an excellent ending to this story, and even though people say this film does not deliver like its predecessors, I would disagree with that statement and say that this is the perfect way to wrap up this trilogy.
Overall, I would give this film 2.5 out of 4 stars. I thought it was a funny film that does a great job of bringing the adventures of ‘the wolfpack” to a close. I would recommend staying throughout the credits because if you are a fan of the first two films, you will definitely want to see the final moments with “the wolfpack”.
