The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug is the not-so-long-awaited sequel to last year's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. The recent trailer holds quite the surprise appearance:
Did you see that? Yeah, there was a dragon. But more importantly, there was Legolas, played by Orlando Bloom in both the Lord of the Rings trilogy and now this prequel series. No one should be more surprised by this than The Hobbit aficionados. According to Metro, while Legolas' father and people appeared in The Hobbit book by J.R.R. Tolkein, Legolas himself did not appear until The Lord of the Rings books. Speculation abounds that this deviation from the book is an attempt to get more money. And it should work. Orlando Bloom.
The Huffington Post reports that this trailer will be featured by Man of Steel, which is another Warner Bros production.
While Legolas' appearance is super-hype worthy, the dragon's appearance is also exciting. The dragon is voiced by none other than Star Trek: Into the Darkness star Benedict Cumberbatch, who also stars with The Hobbit lead Martin Freeman in the BBC series Sherlock. Though, we may have to wait until the film's release in December to hear the giant beast speak.
