North of Los Angeles it was told that six homes were destroyed due to the expansion of wildfires that have spread to unoccupied areas in the west and are still on the move.

According to CBS News, many houses in the foothill communities still have not been evacuated from these devastating wildfires. Nathan Judy, of the U.S. forest service, said that they are still trying to gain control of the 41 mile fire in Antelope Valley. Judy had also said that the fires began to die down in the Mojave Desert, which is west of Lancaster, California.

Although the fire is about 20% controlled, firefighters are still trying to protect more than 1,000 homes in the Lake Hughes and Lake Elizabeth communities. It was sad to announce that 6 homes surrounding these areas have already been burned down.

According to Reuters Fires in the Southwest rose with fury consuming 1,745 acres of land in the Valles Caldera National Reserve in Jemez Springs, New Mexico. Smoke had risen over neighborhoods in Sante Fe and other surrounding areas. Fire officials said that they have already evacuated at least 50 families on Sunday.

There is more to be announced as the fires escalate.
