Chuck Palahniuk, the author of Fight Club, has confirmed that he’s working on a sequel. But instead of making another movie or novel, he’s writing it as a graphic novel.
The Cult, Palahniuk’s official site, confirmed that the author did confirm during Comic-Con that a sequel to his debut novel is in the works. Palahniuk made the announcement during an ‘Ode To The Nerds’ panel last week. He sent a letter to the site, writing that “[author] Chelsea Cain has been introducing me to artists and creators from Marvel, DC and Dark Horse, and they're walking me through the process.”
He continued, “It will likely be a series of books that update the story ten years after the seeming end of Tyler Durden. Nowadays, Tyler is telling the story, lurking inside Jack, and ready to launch a come-back. Jack is oblivious. Marla is bored. Their marriage has run aground on the rocky coastline of middle-aged suburban boredom. It's only when their little boy disappears, kidnapped by Tyler, that Jack is dragged back into the world of Mayhem.”
Palahniuk is hoping that it could be published by 2015, but contractual obligations may push the series further back, notes EW.
Of course, 1996’s Fight Club was later turned into the acclaimed cult film of the same name, directed by David Fincher and starring Edward Norton, Brad Pitt and Helena Bonham Carter. The film is currently in the IMDb Top 250. It only made $37 million at the box office, but became a cult phenomenon with its DVD release.
