The plot thickens in Pretty Little Liars latest episode “Under the Gun” as ‘A’ manipulates the girls and we are introduced to an eerie town called Ravenswood. Ravenwood is a spooky gray scale town with standoff zombie like residents. The haunted town brings up questions and bone chilling fear for Spencer and Toby. In “Under the Gun” we come to terms once again that ‘A’ is always one step ahead of the girl.
Spencer: Emily and Spencer burry the hatchet for their fight at the Gamma Zeta Chi sorority house. Mona makes her appearance in the episode after being flying under the radar. Spencer says, “Mo Mona Mo Problems” which is exactly what she brings to the picture. Mona tells Emily, Aria and Spencer she has been on a mission to find her missing RV. She tells the girls that Toby took the RV and Spencer knew all along. Aria and Emily are in complete disbelief that Spencer would hide such a big secret. Spencer wants to gain the girls trust again without unleashing Toby’s secret. She tracks down Gamma Zeta Chi’s housemother Carla Grunwald.
Spencer and Toby on a mission to find the mysterious housemother and find themselves in Ravenswood. Spencer finds Ms. Grunwald and tells her that she didn’t know Alison. She also tells her that she is not Carla Grunwald and that she cannot help her. With a town filled of unhelpful residents Toby and Spencer find themselves at a screeching halt. In the end Spencer follows the people of the town down to speakers and statue and spots Shana. Spencer runs to get Toby and they see Jenna’s car driving up to pick up Shana. Toby and Spencer try to follow them but a dead crow falls on Spencer’s windshield. The questions arise as we wonder what is the connection between Shana, Jenna and Alison. Was the dead coincidental or foreshadowing the future.
Emily: Emily is irked with Shana’s reappearance and news that she has transferred to Rosewood. Shana is now on the swim team in hopes to earn a scholarship and torment Emily. Since Emily has had to give up swimming she is focused on helping Hanna. Emily convinces Hanna to turn over the video to help clear her mother’s case. The video not only shows Hanna’s mom but Shana and Jenna.
The video will raise the police’s questions and point the finger to Shana and Jenna to see what actually happened to Wilden. Emily leaves the video in the detective Tanner’s desk. As Emily is working open mic night at her job the pesky detective Tanner comes to get Emily for questions. It is revealed that the video the detective saw was not the video Emily left. ‘A’ has taken over with switching the video showing “Emily” wearing a red coat holding a sign saying “guilty” next to Rosewood’s welcome sign with a population counter. Looks like Emily once again is under ‘A’ demented microscope.
Aria: Aria finds herself in the middle of high school gossip and drama. After a simple and innocent favor of helping Mike’s friend with an essay Aria is labeled as a ‘slut.’ Mike’s friend kisses Aria and she lets him down easy. Embarrassed with the rejection he starts spreading rumors. He publically accuses Aria of having a relationship with Ezra. Aria is shocked and Ezra comes in and tells Aria to leave the boys locker room. Ezra tries to console Aria because she is in tears but she pushes him away. Mike tells Aria that he will take care of the situation. Makes you wonder if Mike is the one who vandalizes his friend’s car with a bat?
Hanna: Poor Hanna has not gotten a break or answers about her mother’s involvement with WIlden’s murder. Hanna’s dad is far from supportive with his constant crude accusation and bad attitude. Since her stunt of trying to burry a gun Hanna has been on house arrest with her parents prying for answers. Detective Tanner is on a mission to find out what Hanna is really hiding. Hanna tells her dad that she found the gun in her mom’s closet. Hanna’s mom tells them that she didn’t know about the gun and that someone is framing her.
Hanna’s mom tells them that she had taken Hanna’s dad’s gun for protection but denies being involved with Wilden’s murder. Her parents start to argue and just as Hanna wants to tell her parents about ‘A’ she gets a heart stopping text. ‘A’ tells Hanna “You bark. I bite. Say my name they both get the blame.” Hanna blames herself for her mother’s predicament and is on edge with what is going to happen next. In the end Hanna’s mom is arrested and taken into custody. Detective Tanner tells Hanna that her mother’s fingerprints were on the guns bullets that killed Wilden.
The episode ends with ‘A’ breaking into a car and wearing Emily’s facemask. ‘A’ has already turned Hanna’s, and Emily’s life upside down who is next?
