The first trailer for The Fifth Estate was just released. The Dreamworks film features Benedict Cumberbatch as Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, who has aimed to expose governments by leaking classified documents online.

In the trailer, Cumberbatch is shown looking eerily just like Assange, complete with the blond hair. Daniel Bruhl plays Daniel Domscheit-Berg and the rest of the cast includes Laura Linney, Stanley Tucci, Anthony Mackie, Alicia Vikander and Carice van Houten.

The film earned its title in January, when Participant Media signed on as a co-producer with Dreamworks. Participant previously worked with Dreamworks on Steven Spielberg’s 2012 hit Lincoln. Bill Condon (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn) is directing and the producers are Steve Golin and Michael Sugar.

Domscheit-Berg’s Inside WikiLeaks: My Time With Julian Assange At The World’s Most Dangerous Website and David Leigh and Luke Harding’s WikiLeaks: Inside Julian Assange's War On Secrecy provided the basis for the script by Josh Singer.

The Fifth Estate has been scheduled for Oct. 18 and look for Cumberbatch to be in the Oscar race if he wins good reviews. It will be interesting to see how the film is effected by the news, since WikiLeaks is still a prominent force, helping NSA leaker Edward Snowden as of late.
