The classic improvisational comedy show Whose Line Is It Anyway? is making a comeback, returning to television tonight after nearly six years off the air. The new version features familiar faces and games, but a new host.
The CW confirmed that Whose Line was coming back in March, after comedian Colin Mochrie tweeted that the show could be coming back. Ryan Stiles had also dropped a hint in an interview. Aisha Tyler, who currently co-hosts CBS’ The Talk, was hired to replace Drew Carey as host, since he’s still doing The Price Is Right.
The original Whose Line has been off the air since 2007 and the new version brings back many of the familiar games that test the skills of Wayne Brady, Mochrie and Stiles. According to NBC Bay Area, games like “Scenes from a Hat” and “Hoedown” are back and the humor is more silly than anything else. But that’s what fans should expect from these comedians.
“When we were shooting, we were joking around saying it felt like everyone stepped out for lunch and came right back,” Brady told USA Today. “And I think that's the coolest compliment that you could pay each other.”
Mochrie joked about the fact that they are on The CW, which usually caters to a much younger demographic. “It's interesting to be on the network where I could be the grandfather of every character on every other show,” he told USA Today.
Whose Line airs on The CW tonight at 8 p.m.
