American Idol’s Adam Lambert is joining the season five cast of Glee.
Co-creator Ryan Murphy and Showrunner made the announcement on Wednesday.
“I am thrilled to announce that the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee this fall,” Murphy tweeted.
There are currently no details on Lambert’s character according to The Hollywood Reporter. Lambert is the latest American Idol singer to join the cast. Jessica Sanchez played a diva on a rival glee club for multiple episodes.
Glee featured other celebrity guest in season four such as Sarah Jessica Parker and Kate Hudson.
Lambert said Glee, “really paints a picture of what it’s like to be an arts kid in high school.” Adding, “Glee is really irresistible – it’s charming.” He would also like to play himself on the show.
He recently played himself on Pretty Little Liars as well as performed.
E! reports Fox confirmed Heather Morris, Amber Riley, Mark Salling, and Harry Shum, Jr. will not be returning as regulars this upcoming season of Glee.
Glee is scheduled to return on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 9 p.m. on Fox.
