Someday is the latest EP from pop rock songstress Angela Alvarez.
Alvarez was born in Calgary and raised near Cleveland, Ohio. She started singing at the early age of 3 and grew up playing the piano. On her free time Alvarez spent her free time in gymnastics, baton twirling and dancing. This multi-talented artist ventured into the music world after high school when she bought herself a guitar.
Alvarez took the guitar with her to college. After failing to gain entrance in the musical theater program Alvarez grew as a person and artists. She said on her website, Angela Alvarez Music, “I wanted a way to play music in my dorm room, so I bought that guitar with the money I got for graduation. I was always a creative writer, but had never thought much about writing songs. As soon as I understood the basics of song structure, lyrics began pouring out of me faster than I could write them down.”
The turning point that made Alvarez continue her dream of being a performing artist was when she sang songs at a campfire. Alvarez said, “That camping trip was a major turning point for me. Hearing my friends say they loved my music was very encouraging. I decided if I’m going to do this, I’m really going to do this right, so that’s when I began guitar lessons and performing wherever I could.”
In addition to her musical talent Alvarez gives back to the community. With the release of her EP Someday Alvarez did a performance on June 15th at Martini Ranch in Scottsdale, Arizona. All the proceeds from the show benefitted Hear for Kids, a program of The Ear Foundation of Arizona.
Alvarez has a pop rock sound that’s similar to artists Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson and Sara Bareilles. The first single on the EP is “Someday” which kicks the album to full gear enlaced with a fierce girl power attitude. It is an upbeat peppy rock song that has a catchy chorus that you will find yourself singing along to.
The next single “Your Lies” that is an electrically charged rock song that Alvarez sings her heart out about a lying lover. It showcases Alvarez’s songwriting talent and raw vocals as she stresses every emotion through her lyrics. The last single is “Not Waiting Around” which shifts to a country pop rock sound and brings back that girl power attitude that she started the EP with. These three songs showcase the versatility of Alvarez’s talent.
