Aretha Franklin has been forced to cancel a show near her hometown of Detroit later this month, citing a medical issue.
Back in May, Franklin had to cancel two shows on “doctor’s orders” and her publicist didn’t go into specifics.
She then canceled a June 22 show at the DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkstown, Michigan, near Detroit, notes Entertainment Weekly. The show was rescheduled for July 27, but she has had to cancel it “one last time.”
According to the Detroit Free Press, she wrote in her statement that she had to cancel the show “due to my miscalculation of the end of my treatment” for a medical condition.
The Queen of Soul, 71, added, “It would be totally disruptive to stop them now and go into concert with total success right at the door, 100%. I love you much and more than the spoken word can tell.”
The “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” singer added that she hoped to “see you next summer” in the letter to “fans, friends and supporters.”
Refunds will be available for ticket holders.
