The comic-book universe better get ready: Superman and Batman will unite in the sequel to this Summer's blockbuster, "Man of Steel."
USAToday reported that Warner Bros. Pictures announced that Justice League heroes will star in the upcoming, yet-to-be-named film. Production is expected to begin 2014.
"Superman and Batman together on the big screen is a dream come true for DC (Comics) fans everywhere," said Diane Nelson, president of DC Entertainment, on CNN.
Zack Snyder, director of "Man of Steel," will direct the film. Henry Cavill will also reprise his role as Superman, Warner Bros. said. Batman, however, has yet to be cast.
Christian Bale, the Dark Knight actor, has said to Entertainment Weekly that he would not be in another Batman production.
According to HuffingtonPost, Snyder hinted that the two iconic superheroes will be rivals in the next movie. He took the stage and announced the sequel to "Man of Steel," and then brought actor Harry Lennix, who co-starred in the Superman film, out to read a section of Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns": "I want you to remember, Clark, in all the years to come, in all your most private moments, I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you."
Fans will be anxiously awaiting the arrival of this sure-to-be hit.
