Bon Jovi has generously donated $1 million to relief efforts for Superstorm Sandy. He presented the check with Gov. Chris Christie and Mary Pat Christie in New Jersey on Monday.

Rocker Jon Bon Jovi presented the check on behalf of his band and once again gave back to his home state.

The AP reports Bon Jovi said during the news conference, "My being here is not political. It's emotional."

Since the October 2012 storm hit, he has shown his charitable side by helping raise money for the recovery. He is co-chairman of a storm relief fund and has headlined a concert which benefits relief efforts.

"I know that this million dollars sounds like a lot but it's really just a drop in the bucket," Bon Jovi also said, CNN reports. "What I like to call the 'power of we,' the coming together–that means you, me, us–we are taking a step today to rebuild lives."

At the event, Gov. Christie’s wife Mary Pat, who head the relief fund, said it has raised $38 million thanks to people like Bon Jovi. Bono and Bruce Springsteen are also co-chairs of the charity.
