Cher Lloyd is a pop-singer, rapper, songwriter, and model. She is best known as the singer of popular songs, “Swagger Jagger,” “With Ur Love,” and “Want U Back.”
Lloyd was born in Malvern, Worcestershire England, United Kingdom. She attended a performing arts high school along with a theater arts school while living in Malvern.
She rose to fame with her performances on The X Factor, finishing fourth in the show’s seventh season. She covered songs such as a rap version of Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida,” “Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)”, and “Empire State of Mine,” among others. After she was eliminated, she was signed by Syco Music.
Her debut album was released in November 2011, which included her debut single, “Swagger Jagger.” Her second single “With Ur Love” featured Mike Posner and sold 74,030 copies in its first week. After Lloyd’s success, she went on her first solo UK tour, the Sticks and Stones tour, in March and April of 2012.
In October 2011, Lloyd signed to Logan Media Entertainment where she signed a record deal with L.A. Reid to Epic Records. She began working on her third single, “Want U Back,” featuring rapper Astro, which became immensely popular being named number 26 on the UK singles chart. She redid the single for U.S. release without Astro, as well as a remix with Snoop Lion.
Lloyd’s second studio album is due in September 2013. She also was featured on friend Demi Lovato’s fourth album, Demi in the song “Really Don’t Care.” Lloyd’s “I Wish” tour is set to take place in fall 203.
The singer has also done a fair share of modeling. She signed a contract with the Select agency, and has been featured on the cover of RWD Magazine and Wonderland magazine.
In March 2012, Lloyd announced her engagement to boyfriend Craig Monk.
