Police were called to the scene in Lansdowne, Md. Friday (July 5) where a 1-year-old child died after being left alone in a hot car. The female infant, Sabriya Towels, went into cardiac arrest after being left in the car for at least 4 hours.
It was confirmed that Towels was not in the care of her parents at the time, but was instead with a relative. The relative was supposed to drop the child off at Head Start daycare but she was instead left inside a black truck in the parking lot next door. Police have focused their attention on the black truck which is currently being examined for forensic evidence, states CBS Baltimore.
“A man had arrived to pick up a child. He had been told the child was never dropped off in the morning. He ran back out to his vehicle. He discovered the child was unresponsive in the backseat,” said Cathy Batton of the Baltimore County Police.
According to WBAL, the child was pronounced dead at St. Agnes Hospital.
No charges have been filed against the relative at this time.
