At first, no one knew how the body of 16-year-old Ye Meng Yuan, who was visiting America to study English for the summer, had gotten to the runway. It was speculated that she’d been thrown from the plane, or that she’d gotten out before her fatal injuries had taken their toll. But it has now been confirmed that she was killed when a fire truck ran over her.

“There's not a lot of words to describe how badly we feel, how sorry we feel,” said San Francisco Fire Chief Joanne Hayes-White. According to CNN, firefighters were using foam to douse the fire and fumes on the plane, and covered Yuan as well; then the airport emergency vehicle ran her over. Yuan was apparently on the ground but “alive at the time,” said the coroner.

In the last TheCelebrityCafe update, a group of passengers will sue Boeing over the crash. Now, the AP reports that Yuan’s family and the families of the other two dead teens have hired a law firm. But while the Chinese government has requested the U.S. find out who is to blame, some Chinese citizens have reportedly praised the U.S. for releasing the facts.
