Chloe Grace Moretz has a new project on her list of films. The Hugo actress is slated to star in If I Stay for MGM.

Deadline confirmed Thursday that Moretz has committed to the project, which is a thriller. She’ll play a teen whose family is in a devastating car crash. She survives, but is in a coma. At the hospital, she has an out-of-body experience and must decide if she wants to leave her difficult life on earth behind. It’s based on a 2009 novel by Gayle Forman.

R.J. Cutler, who directed episodes of ABC’s Nashville last year, is slated to direct the film. Production starts in Vancouver in October.

According to Comingsoon.net, the project was first announced in 2009 and Moretz was fisrt linked to the project back in January.

This will be her latest film with MGM, following her role in the studio’s Carrie remake. That hits theaters in October.

Before Carrie though, Moretz reprises her star-making role of Hit Girl in Kick Ass 2. That opens on Aug. 16. Other projects she’s attached to include The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea and The Equalizer with Denzel Washington.
