Ciara’s self-titled album hit CD stands, iTunes and Amazon on July 9,2013. This is the artist’s fifth album and I would say that in its totality this CD is okay. Surely this isn’t her greatest music in my opinion but songs like "Body Party" and "Where You Go” featuring Future are quite frankly the best songs on the CD. This compilation of melodies has a sexy feel to them a lot of them are about her and a lover of some sort.
Below you can find a breakdown of the songs.
"I’m Out," ft. Nicki Minaj- This an up beat song where C is telling her ex-lover that he is going to miss her when she rolls out.
"Sophomore-" I can’t say I like this song. It’s about a lover she’s had for a year now and they are going into their sophomore year.
"Body Party-" C’s big single! I love this song; it’s a fun slow jam to rock to.
"Keep Lookin’-" This song reminds me of a mix of Mike Jones- Back Then and Ciara's 2004 hit Goodies. With the line ' use to tell me I’m going down. I’m all that they want now' repeatedly played gave me that vibe.
"Read My Lips-" This song here is about those unmentionable kisses.
"Where You Go," Ft. Future- I really like the beat. The track is cute I keep hearing rumors about C and Future being together so it’s like any couple doing a song together it felt like they were singing to each other. The male lover is just telling his lady that it’s been a while since he’s seen her smile. The lady is telling him that he’s the reason she smiles.
"Super Turnt Up-" This track is for the young adults that like the phrase turnt up! C is turnt up off someone’s love.
"DUI-" this cut reminds me of a slow version of Elle Varner's refill. She not actually talking about being drunk she's drunk off someone's love
"Living It Up," ft. Nicki Minaj- the beat is hot it’s defiantly the first thing that hit me. The old school oh la oh la eh Kid’N Play line is probably my favorite part. I like Nicki’s rap this is defiantly a song to empower the ladies. C says a girls got to do what a girls got to do!
"Overdose-" Someone call the doctor because Ciara has gotten a hold of too much of someone’s love. The beat for this track was fun, it fit the vibe I feel the production team was trying to create.
This record is Ciara’s first with EPIC after leaving Jive Records. According to Digital Spy Ciara is back with L.A Ried the man credited for discovering her back in 2003. This combination can potentially bring forth great things. I look forward to future music from C. She still has a fan in myself and I will be waiting to see what’s next.
