Cory Monteith’s final message has surfaced, showing the late Glee star giving a fan advice to stay out of trouble.
According to USA Today, the 15-second clip was shown on ABC’s Good Morning America, which billed it as Monteith’s “final message.” The video was posted on YouTube by the user MiniGleeks1, which credits the Little Glee Princess Tumblr page as the source.
The video appears to be taken by Monteith himself on the phone during his flight to Vancouver. “Stay out of trouble. And stay in school,” he tells the fan.
Meanwhile, we now know that Monteith died with a deadly mix of alcohol and heroin in his system.
The actor was only 31-years-old and was remembered best for his part on Glee for the show’s first four seasons. It is set to start its fifth season on Fox in the fall and the network is still trying to decide how to move forward. His co-star Jane Lynch was on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, giving a tearful interview and remembering the actor.
Glee actress Dianna Agron also issued a statement to E! News. “I have never lost a friend. In this difficult time, I am leaning on all of the wonderful memories we shared with Cory, how many ways he was able to make us smile. Glee was a gift to all of us. It gave us a family in this industry. We really cut our teeth and grew up on this show,” she said.
Monteith was dating his co-star Lea Michele, whose only statement has come from her rep. “Since Cory's passing, Lea has been grieving alongside his family and making appropriate arrangements with them,” he publicist said. “They are supporting each other as they endure this profound loss together. We continue to ask the media to respect the privacy of Lea and Cory's family.”
