X Factor judge Demi Lovato is speaking out following the death of Glee actor Cory Monteith, urging recovery addicts to stay sober.
Lavoto has suffered her fair share of struggles with drugs and self mutilation. The former Disney starlet opens up about Monteith’s untimely death telling People that the young actor didn’t have a choice.
“All it takes is one moment of vulnerability to get slipped into your addiction,” she explained to the magazine Wednesday. "It's not a choice. Nobody chooses to use. He didn't choose to die. It was the disease. It can creep up on you at any moment. It only takes one moment of relapse to potentially die. It's really scary, but I'm really hoping that from this, people are able to see this is a very, very, very dangerous disease."
Monteith was found dead in a Vancover hotel room after taking a lethal dose of heroin and alcohol.
Although the “Give Your Heart a Break” singer admits to being extremely “heartbroken” over Monteith’s death, she says the main person in her thoughts right now is his longtime love, Lea Michele. "The main person in my thoughts is Lea…I am praying for her so hard and I love her so much. I'm wishing her a lot of strength right now."
