DMX filed for bankruptcy on July 19.
The rapper filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy according to The Wall street Journal. He owes $1 to $10 million in debt and has $50,000 in assets.
Earl Simmons, or DMX, owes 1.24 million in child support and $21,000 in car payments.
“DMX’s financial strains have been inhibiting his career for several years. Poor financial management by prior representation have caused him to be ineligible to retain a passport. The purpose of this bankruptcy filing is for reorganization so he can perform for his fans oversees. We are currently planning a tour in Europe and Africa for the fall of 2013,” DMX’s publicist said in a statement.
Just days before he filed for bankruptcy, DMX was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence Rolling Stone reports. He was also driving without a driver’s license in South Carolina. No charges were given to the rapper after $1,235 in bail.
DMX released his seventh album Undisputed in 2012 and played on the Rock the Bells tour.
