Rapper DMX was reportedly arrested for drunk driving early this morning, but the rapper’s rep has denied the reports, saying that he was not charged with a DUI.

TMZ had reported earlier today that he was picked up by Highway Patrol in South Carolina because they suspected he was driving drunk at 3 a.m. He was released from the Greenville County Detention Center less than an hour later. The site did not report what DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, what DMX was charged with but did post his mugshot.

In a statement to MTV News, DMX’s rep said that DMX was arrested, but police did not charge him with a DUI. HE was only charged with driving with a suspended license.

“Allegations about DMX being arrested for drunk driving are false. He was arrested early this morning but quickly released. X was given a breathalyzer test and easily passed it,” the rep stated. “He is back at his home in South Carolina and we are continuing our focus on his upcoming album and acting roles.”

MTV said that it tried to reach the Greenville Police Department in South Carolina, but did not hear back.

DMX has been arrested dozens of times, most recently in February, when he was also arrested for driving with a suspended license.

The rapper’s last album release came in 2012 with Undisputed. The album only peaked at No. 17 on the Billboard 200 chart.
