Elisabeth Hasselbeck is officially saying goodbye to The View and moving over to Fox network where she will join Fox an Friends.
Fox News Channel Presdeitn Roger Ailes released a statement following the news saying as quoted by E! News, “Elisabeth's warm and engaging personality made her a star on The View. She has proven to be an excellent conversationalist and I am certain she will make a great addition to our already successful morning franchise."
Speculation that the open conservative would leave the ABC talkshow surfaced in early March after Us Weekly reported that she was no longer meshing with viewers. Barbara Walters took to the show to debunk the rumors. Shortly thereafter, Sherri Shepherd seemed to have a slip of the tongue when she told Wendy Williams that “the two black women are left. Usually they kill us off in the beginning,” referring to herself and fellow co-host Whoopi Goldberg.
Barbara Walters and Joy Behar announced they would not return earlier this year.
Hasselbeck also released a statement in light of her new opportunity saying, “I have been a long-time fan of Fox & Friends and am excited to be joining their team in September as it is an honor to call the Fox News Channel my new television home."
Reports that Jenny McCarthy and Brooke Shields will join the show to replace two of the three vacant chairs have not been confirmed.
