On the day Magna Carta Holy Grail was released commercially, the first sales projections have been released and Jay-Z might just have his 13th number one album.

The album was released early for Samsung users as part of an innovative marketing strategy. Part of the deal with Samsung was that they bought the first one million copies, which led to the album being platinum before its release.

The platinum distinction, though, wouldn't help Jay-Z on the charts, only commercial sales would. But Hotnewhiphop reports that he should have no trouble reaching the number one spot. The album is projected to sell between 350-400 thousand copies.

In today's economy those numbers are rare to come by. MTV reports that if these numbers hold true, this will be the second highest debut week of 2013, falling short to only frequent collaborator Justin Timberlake, whos The 20/20 Experience sold over 900 thousand in its first week.

For an album that was promoted in a completely new way, and was announced only a few weeks before its release, these numbers are quite outstanding. Leave it to the legendary Jay-Z to pull this off.
