A grandfather took his 4-year-old grandson to a Burger King restaurant in Dundee, Michigan Tuesday night for dinner, when he opened up the boy’s meal and to his surprise found a marijuana pipe filled with hashish.

The grandfather was outraged and immediately contacted police as he watched a young male employee run from the restaurant. When the police arrived, they noticed that the employee who fled had accidentally left his cell phone at the restaurant.

NY Daily News reports that when two of the employee’s friends called his phone to warn him that police were outside the building, a police officer answered the phone and tricked the friends into admitting that they were parked just across the street.

Police searched the car and discovered more marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The 23-year-old employee and his two friends, ages 18 and 20, were all arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. It is likely that they will soon face further charges for drug possession.

The employee later admitted that he had packed the pipe with hashish and then hid it inside the kids meal so that his supervisors would not discover it.

A spokesperson for Burger King told Huntington Post that customer safety is extremely important to their company.

"This Burger King restaurant is owned and operated by a franchisee who enforces a zero-tolerance drug policy," the spokesperson said. “The franchise management team is cooperating fully with the Dundee police department. BKC and the franchisee extend a sincere apology to the guests involved in this unfortunate incident."
